After a couple of potential setbacks yesterday, that had me dreading the sound of silence in Paradiso over the weekend, we signed up a building team late last night and they showed up today bang on time, eager to get going. Our engineer set a target date for re-opening on Friday the 18th December and the builders have confidently said they will make it happen.
I’d like to sit on that over the weekend, make sure everyone else can get up to speed with it, at which point I will be posting here again to announce a definite re-opening date. It’s amazing to think back on what’s been a traumatic and, in ways, exciting rollercoaster of a week, and that this time a week ago the restaurant was still under water.
While the builders get on with clearing out rotting walls, floors and woodwork over the next few days, we will be putting the finishing touches to a few ideas we have to make this next phase of Cafe Paradiso an even better one than before. I’ll keep you up to date on some of them and hold a few back so you can enjoy the pleasure of seeing it for yourself sooner than we thought possible.

Have been thinking of ye all and glad to hear that the date for re-opening is so soon.
Ps – did I leave a copy of human smoke in the front room?
Wishing you well as you start the work of putting it all back together. We will be down to support you early in January.
